I am Ji Woong YOON, the 16th President of the Science and Technology Policy Institute (STEPI).

Since its establishment in 1987, STEPI has been dedicated to researching and analyzing various issues related to science, technology, and innovation to support national policy formulation and contribute to economic and social development.

The current science and technology policy landscape is undergoing rapid changes due to global hegemonic competition and the Russia-Ukraine war. To turn these challenges into opportunities, a fundamental transformation of the national innovation system based on science and technology is not an option but a necessity. As a hub for the domestic and international science and technology policy value chain, STEPI aims to proactively respond to this new era, enhance its status as a global think tank, and lead policy research in artificial intelligence and advanced biotechnology with professionalism and credibility.

Furthermore, we will strengthen policy research that reflects voices from the field, integrate data with policy capabilities, and evolve into an agile and effective organization.

As a leader in science and technology, we are committed to advancing policy research that enhances the quality of life for our citizens.
